Benefits for Full-Time Employees
Coverage is available through Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and includes medical, dental, vision, and prescription benefits. Anthem also offers the Employee Assistance program for mental health and counseling services. Retiree Health Insurance Coverage is also available for those retiree's wishing to continue their Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield coverage.
Administered by the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). The County also participates in the Law Enforcement/Firefighter Retirement Program (LEO), which is also administered by VRS. King George County's VRS multiplier is 1.85%.
457 Deferred Compensation Program
Supplemental retirement program for full-time employees that allows employees to defer a portion of their salary on a pre-tax basis (federal and state tax-free). The plan administrator offers various investment options. King George County currently offers plans with Nationwide Financial, AXA, and Colonel Life.
Administered by the Virginia Retirement System with coverage provided by Minnesota Life. Optional life insurance with additional group life insurance coverage is also available to employees and their dependents.
Annual leave is accrued based on years of service with an annual carryover of 240hrs. Sick leave is accrued at 8 hours per month with no limit. Comp Time, Training Leave, and Military Leave are also available.
King George County follows the state holiday schedule(12) with additional holidays as authorized by the Governor.
